Full Bathroom Renovation Plumbing in Mount Austin

The Situation

Mrs. Sarah Tan was undertaking a full renovation of her master bathroom in a 20-year-old terrace house in Mount Austin, Johor Bahru. The existing bathroom had original copper pipework throughout and outdated fixtures that were worn, inefficient, and no longer meeting the family's needs.

She engaged Ace Plumber Johor Bahru to handle all the plumbing works as part of the broader renovation — replacing all pipework and installing a full suite of new fittings to modern standards.

Our Assessment

Before work began, our team inspected the existing plumbing to plan the full scope of works. Key findings:

• Original copper pipes showing signs of age, with multiple joints requiring replacement regardless of renovation scope
• Existing water heater lacked an ELCB (Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker) — a critical electrical safety requirement for wet areas
• Pipe routing would need to be reconfigured to accommodate the new wall-hung toilet installation
• Shower area required new concealed supply lines to support the rain shower head and mixer valve
• Overall pipe condition indicated a full replacement with PPR was the most practical and cost-effective approach

The Solution

Our team completed the full bathroom plumbing renovation over two days, working in close coordination with Mrs. Tan's tiling and carpentry contractors to minimise disruption:

1. Removed all existing copper pipework and cleared the area for the new pipe layout
2. Installed new PPR (Polypropylene Random Copolymer) hot and cold water supply lines throughout the bathroom — concealed within walls before tiling
3. Set up the rough-in and wall bracket for the new TOTO wall-hung toilet, aligned with the in-wall cistern system
4. Installed concealed supply lines and valve for the shower mixer, positioned for the ceiling-mounted rain shower head
5. Fitted the new Joven instant water heater with a fully compliant ELCB and verified electrical isolation
6. Pressure-tested all new pipework before wall closing to confirm zero leaks
7. Returned on day two for final fixture connections and commissioning after tiling was complete

Total job duration: 2 days. All fixtures tested and fully operational. Minimal disruption to the rest of the household throughout.
